The Sight-Glass Alternative
There are many level measurement applications where the demand is for simple, robust, reliable gauging with visible level indication. Traditionally, this has been the domain of the Sight Glass. However, the risks of media leakage due to gauge glass failure and often poor level visibility requires a safer, higher clarity alternative.
The Magnetic Level Gauge provides a safe alternative to the Sight Glass, while retaining technical simplicity and the reliability that goes with it.
Quality Construction
A high integrity chamber, constructed to any length and with connections designed to mate with your existing tank fittings, holds a sealed, guide-free float. The float contains a powerful, omni-directional magnet. Attached to the outside of the chamber is an indication rail containing a column of magnetised, coloured flaps. As the float rises and falls with the liquid level, the magnet in the float repels and rotates the flaps, changing the visible colour. The flaps above the liquid levels show white, while those below show red, thus presenting a clear and accurate level of the liquid being measured.

Typical Applications
Typical applications include: condensate levels; HP heaters; boiler drums; caustics; coolant levels; separators; oil/water interface; de-aerators; HF acid; LPG bullets; fuel oil storage; additive tanks; and flare drums.
Optional Extras
The float magnet can also be used to activate a continuous output transmitter. For cost effective remote level transmission use one of our reed switch transmitters, or for higher resolution select a magnetostrictive continuous output transmitter.
Individual reed switches can also be supplied for installation anywhere along the gauge’s length for high or low level alarm.
Engraved scales are available marked either in level, percentage or volume if suitable data can be provided.
